Roofing

A roofer who's on the roof all day lets an AI answer his phone

It saves the owner about an hour a day, he says.

The business

JDJ Roofing (Baldwin County, Alabama)

A local roofing company run by owner Joseph Jaye. Most of the work is roofing and warranty work for homeowners.

The problem

Jaye can't always pick up when he's working. With a leak or storm damage, people want to talk right away. "A lot of times they go with whoever contacts them back first," he says.

The bot or tool

Hearth AI Receptionist

An AI receptionist that answers when he can't. It asks about the job, takes down contact details and the address, books appointments, and sends him a summary and recording of each call.

How they set it up

  1. He found it while talking to Hearth about its financing tools.
  2. Hearth did the setup for him. "The setup really didn't take that long," he says.
  3. Now the AI picks up when he can't. He reads the call summaries to see who needs him first, like a leak that needs a tarp.
